In 1972, Lambda Chi Alpha became the first fraternity to abolish pledgeship and replaced it with Associate Membership. Lambda Chi Alpha believes in the value of every human being. These values, which were adopted from the United States Army, include Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Service & Stewardship, Honor, Integrity, and Personal courage, which come together to form the acronym LDRSHIP. Lambda Chi Alpha is in search of the type of student who already exemplifies these traits and is continually working to better himself as a man.
Why Join Lambda Chi?
In a very real sense, the Fraternity creates a family relationship among its members. It aims to bring together a group of young men who will be congenial, loyal, and helpful to one another during some of the best years of their lives-the college years. Thus Lambda Chi Alpha offers its members the nearest possible equivalent to home that can be found on the college campus, and these close ties often bind men in friendships for life.
Mission
The mission of Lambda Chi Alpha is to offer the best fraternal experience, focusing on personal character development through leadership, scholarship, community service, and positive social experiences. Each member of Lambda Chi Alpha holds the responsibility of “living our values” which are Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Service and Stewardship, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.
Vision
The vision of Lambda Chi Alpha is to prepare and encourage collegiate men of good charter, high ethics, and noble ideals to contribute positively to the world in which they live. Our local chapter at UNCG has alumni dating back to 1981 who are still active in the local community as well as nationally via our international headquarters. One of the goals of an undergraduate member is to build connections with these alumni to help them take their next step into the world after college. Nationally, Lambda Chi Alpha is at around 11,000 college campuses and have more than 290,000 alumni across the world.
Associate Membership (Pledging?)
When Lambda Chi Alpha ended its pledging program in 1972, it was the first fraternity to do so. The Associate Member program was created to take its place. An Associate Member (AM) of Lambda Chi Alpha is entitled to all of the rights and privileges of a fully initiated member. Accordingly, he also bears the same responsibilities as a brother. The Associate Member program allows for new members to become more quickly integrated into our fraternity, strengthening the bond between our members
Anti-hazing policies
Lambda Chi Alpha's first stance against hazing was in 1928 at a North-American Interfraternity Conference meeting when the fraternity condemned the practice. Today Lambda Chi Alpha prohibits hazing of any form, on or off campus, by any of its members. The fraternity's definition of hazing is broadly defined as "any action taken or situation created intentionally to produce physical discomfort or mental discomfort by embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule." Each Brother and Associate Member holds the responsibility to prevent hazing in any manner.

Living our Values
Lambda Chi Alpha takes a progressive approach to Pre-Initiation and incorporating values based ritualism. We believe that ritualism has served an important purpose throughout history. Rituals help bring people together and to remind us all of important truths. Based on Christian Principles, our Initiation Ritual and Exoteric Mysteries are sure to offer you a fond appreciation of ritualism. This ritualism will help you see the strengths of a brotherhood when its at its highest and can help you understand more about yourself.
Focus on Growth
In most fraternities, the education process stops after a member is initiated. However, Lambda Chi Alpha has created the Inner Circle Journey, which allows Initiated Brothers to continue their growth through different experiences, reflections, and Ritualistic teachings. In Lambda Chi Alpha you will always be encouraged to grow and receive more out of your fraternity experience.
